Scott
-Great for keeping the sun off of my skin in the summer
-Easy to layer
-Lightweight and small footprint when rolled up
-Durable, tons of pockets and most importantly, stretchy
Baseball Cap
-I always wear a hat to keep my head cool
Backpack and Gear
-I shopped around with many bags including REI and 5.11 backpacks before I stuck with the Manta. It's a good size, light weight, has an air suspension system to keep my back cool, tons of good pockets and comes with a water bladder that snaps into the chest strap. Overall, no complaints
-I love Osprey but my Manta is sometimes too big for a hike so this is a smaller option. It is still big enough to carry the essentials and still has the same 2.5 liter water bladder as the Manta
Tech
-This watch has a great battery life, tracks my heart rate and workout and is back up for mapping
-Portable light weight phone charger with a decent battery life small enough to fit inside my backpack's waist pockets
-Gaia is the app I use for offline maps. I bought an iPhone with a bigger memory to store 45 GB worth of offline maps including satellite and topography. I highly recommend Gaia as your go to!
Boots
-I always go with a waterproof boot because you just never know what you'll run into. I also pick a mid raise boot, I want something higher than just my ankle without the added weight of a full height boot. These are a great middle ground
What's in my pack?
I always keep the essentials in my backpack for whatever I'm doing that day. Essentials to me is a phone charger, knife, and two sources of water. Optional items are a lightweight jacket, hats/gloves and hiking shoes for Winston in case his paws get hurt or start getting sore
